Your Hosts: Adam and Anne Amber of Amber House Limited are both New Zealanders born and raised in Nelson - with an Irish / Maori / Pacific Island / Scots heritage since other members of the family were born outwith Nelson.
We enjoy learning new recipes and have both been round the world many times.

photo of the exterior of Amber House B&B in Nelson, New Zealand taken from the North West in late winter 2005.
The centre of New Zealand is visible above the roofline. Amber House has the oldest English Walnut tree in the South Island and a brick chimney
that survived at least 3 major local Earthquakes intact. Amber House also preserves Victorian wallpaper. When our family home was built in 1897, it stood on the southern shore of Nelson's Haven.
Now the vibrant and exciting city of Nelson has grown up and outwards around Amber House, but our home remains a peaceful and helpful haven for travellers with all of our city's attractions just a short stroll from our front gate.
Our guests can amble to the nearby Miyazu traditional Japanese gardens and listen to the water bell, take a look at the Farmers Market just opposite us in Founders Heritage Park, or simply sit on our verandah and enjoy the fragrance of our irish roses in the front garden.

Although crystal chandeliers hang from ceilings more than eleven feet high downstairs, we do have a new 21st Century hot water system, satellite dish, wireless Internet, en-suite shower rooms and our Balcony Suite, Blue, Gold and Rose Rooms all have air-conditioning.
Upstairs, the double glazed Balcony Suite and Blue Room have their own balconies with a view over Tasman Bay to the Arthur Ranges on one side and the Sugar Loaf and Botanical Hill (geographical Centre of New Zealand) from the other.

All our rooms are SPACIOUS - large enough for two Queen Beds and our double-glazed Green Room is very good value for families and those not needing air-conditioning in Nelson's wonderful climate.

Our hot breakfasts cooked to individual order are appreciated by many guests and you can just help yourself to fruit any time and from a cold (or `continental' style) buffet breakfast if you prefer a lighter breakfast.

Welcome home!

The prices in brackets (converted to UK£ or € or ¥ or US$, etc,) are only valid at the moment of on-line conversion!

All prices quoted by Amber House Limited are for cash settlement upon arrival and include breakfast, biscuits, hot/cold drinks, and all applicable taxes, levies and service charges.
Tipping is not common practice in New Zealand, "Thank you" is all that is expected - even for exceptional service.
(Our base prices do change dynamically according to demand. Because of this dynamic pricing, even we need to check the computer for the current best price. You will often get the cheapest prices by booking on-line at http://www.AmberHouse.co.nz and the longer in advance you book, the cheaper it should be!)

Full rates (or 'Rack Rates') for each of our accommodations are listed below in respect of double occupancy.
This is our published retail selling price in busy times - when accommodation is at a premium - for one night, 'room only', without any inclusions or multiple night discounts.
